After more than a decade in health and fitness, the word that comes up most with my first time clients is "confused". It’s no surprise because there are so many mixed messages from food companies and special interest groups pushing their agendas, and even from health professionals with their own views and pet diets.

You don't need to keep chasing the latest fad and crossing your fingers because the fact is, everyone is different, with different genes, body compositions and lifestyles, and there’s no such thing as the "best diet".

There are so many diets out there - keto, paleo, low carb, plant based, carnivore, FODMAP, Mediterranean, sheesh! Where do you even start? Well, I'm all in favour of experimentation (and I've road tested most of them) but having reviewed plenty of genetic tests with my clients over the years, the best place to start is always to understand what does and doesn't work for YOU. And you don't need a $400 genetic test to figure it out, this program takes you through 6 challenges over 6 weeks to help you understand what will work best for your unique body and lifestyle.

 

Do away with calorie counting.


There are plenty of experts who swear by counting calories and insist on blanket rules like  "women shouldn't eat more than 1200 calories per day". This may be true for some women, but it certainly isn't true for everyone. Pregnant and breast feeding women are obvious exceptions but it also depends on how much exercise you do and your ideal body weight for your height to name a few. It will also change if you're trying to get pregnant.

And while counting calories can be useful, it's actually an advanced strategy that's better suited to body builders and pro athletes than someone who just wants to eat well and stay at a healthy weight. For many people, doing maths every mealtime leads to an unhealthy relationship with food, and if you like counting calories, then it's important you understand about nutrients too. As a simple example, 1200 calories a day of white bread isn't going to give you good outcomes either.

Personally, I eat between 1,500 to 2,500 calories per day depending on what's going on and how much I'm exercising, but I never count them. I don't have to count them because when you fill yourself up with nutrient rich foods first, you won't be craving more and you will naturally eat the right amount. This is what you'll learn throughout this program.
